About Maddie Sloan Sews

A family sewing business in Austin, TX, with a place to share projects and connect about orders.

Hi yall! My name is Deebee, Maddie Sloan Sews was created by my sister Tiffany and I. We named this little business after my niece Maddie. Years ago I became interested in sewing as a hobby and I wanted to share my projects with others. When I got my first sewing machine in middle school, it all started out of pure necessity. Being on the shorter side meant pants never fit quite right, so I took matters into my own hands quite literally. Hemming my own clothes quickly unlocked a passion for creating, and after taking a formal sewing class in high school, I was hooked. What began as simple alterations expanded into designing structural bags, custom keychains, and everyday accessories from scratch.

Moving to San Marcos for college marked the turning point for my craft. During a visit to my sister’s house, she saw the pieces I was making and instantly recognized their potential. She didn't just suggest starting a business, she wanted in on the process. I taught her how to sew, she bought her own machine, and together we launched our very first mini front-yard market right at her house for our local neighbors.

It started out with one market every two Saturdays a month for four hours. Seeing our community love and connect with us over handmade goods sparked a fire in both of us. As the business has grown, I’ve pushed myself to tackle increasingly advanced projects, constantly refining techniques, experimenting with new patterns, and elevating the quality of every piece that leaves our hands. What started as a solo workaround for ill-fitting jeans has evolved into a thriving, sister-run creative brand. Every bag, keychain, and crafted item reflects years of dedicated practice, family collaboration, and a genuine love for turning raw fabric into functional art. Welcome to our journey—we're so glad you're here!
